Overview
Clearinghouses are third-party services that route your claims to insurance companies electronically. AcuBliss integrates with two: Office Ally and ClaimMD. You only need one to get started.
π‘ Insurance plan required: Clearinghouse integrations are only available on the insurance billing plan. If you don't have it yet, reach out to us and we can get you upgraded right away.
Choosing a Clearinghouse
Both clearinghouses work well β here's the key difference:
Office Ally β One-way integration (you submit claims; responses come back separately). The most commonly used option among AcuBliss practices. Currently around $39/month.
ClaimMD β Two-way integration (claim submissions and responses flow directly through AcuBliss). Tiered pricing: pay-as-you-go, around $50/month for up to 100 claims/month, or an unlimited claims plan if your volume is higher.
Either way, go to Settings > Integrations > Clearinghouses to get set up.
Setting Up Office Ally
You'll need an existing Office Ally account before connecting. Creating one is straightforward β head to the Office Ally website and sign up.
β οΈ Important: The credentials you use here are not your regular Office Ally login. Office Ally issues a separate username and password specifically for electronic claim submission. You must request these before you can connect.
Email [email protected] and request your EDI submission credentials. Include your practice name and account details.
Once you receive your special username and password by email, return to Settings > Integrations > Clearinghouses.
Click Set Up Office Ally Integration and enter the credentials you received.
That's it β Office Ally is now connected.
Setting Up ClaimMD
ClaimMD connects via an API key β no special email required. Create your ClaimMD account first, then follow these steps:
Log in to your ClaimMD account.
Go to Settings > Account Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and click Generate API Key, then confirm.
Click to copy the key.
Back in AcuBliss, go to Settings > Integrations > Clearinghouses, click Set Up ClaimMD Integration, and paste the key into the field.
ClaimMD is now connected and ready for two-way claim submissions.
Submitting Claims
Once your clearinghouse is connected, a new submission button appears in your billing area. Go to Billing > Claims (practice-wide view).
Click Submit Claims to Office Ally or Submit Claims to ClaimMD β whichever you've set up.
All unsubmitted claims are shown, checked by default.
Uncheck any claims you don't want to send, then click the blue button.
AcuBliss batches and sends all selected claims in one go.
How Insurance Billing Works in AcuBliss
AcuBliss is designed to make insurance billing as lightweight as possible β even for solo practitioners doing their own billing. The workflow is simple:
Check in the patient and create a charge. If they have health insurance, the system will prompt you to collect their copay or coinsurance.
Complete the SOAP note for the visit.
That's it β the invoice, superbill, and claim are all generated automatically from the note and charge. Four clicks from check-in to a billable claim.
If you have a dedicated biller, you can add them as a staff member and assign them the Biller role under Settings > Practice > Staff. But the system is built so you can handle it yourself if you choose.
