Updated this week

Overview

Your Patient Portal is the digital front door of your practice. With a few customizations, you can make it welcoming, informative, and visually aligned with your brand. This guide walks you through how to personalize your patient portal, add handouts, control registration, and preview what patients see.

Customizing Your Patient Portal

  • Navigate to Settings > Patient Portal

    • Click the blue button to begin customizing.

  • Visual Appearance

    • Top Banner Color: Choose a pre-set color or enter a custom hex code.

    • Photo Banner: Upload a banner image to display across the top.

    • Logo: Add your practice logo for a branded experience.

    • Background Options: Stick with white or choose a vector background for a more dynamic look.

  • Live Preview

    • Click the preview button to view the portal as a patient. This logs you in as your mock patient so you can test the user experience.

    • After previewing, log out and log back in as a provider to make further edits.

Welcome Message

  • Add a welcome message that displays to all portal users.

  • Use formatting tools like:

    • Bold, Italic,

    • ✅ Bullet points,

      • Numbered lists

    • Red or colored text

    • Headings for emphasis

This is a great place to provide information like what to bring to the first visit or how to contact the clinic.

Controlling Access and Registration

  • Self-Registration: Enabled by default. You can disable this to limit who can create accounts.

  • Embed Options:

    • Copy your portal’s URL for “Book Now” buttons or links.

    • Embed the portal in your website using the iframe code provided — works on platforms like Squarespace or Wix.

Adding Patient Handouts

  • Upload handouts such as recipes, movement guides, or prep instructions.

  • These are stored under “Handouts” and downloadable by patients anytime.

  • You can also attach handouts to Treatment Summaries for post-visit review.

Mock Patient for Testing

  • Search for and use your mock patient (e.g., “Theresa”) to test the portal.

  • Through the mock account, you can:

    • View pending and completed forms

    • Test patient notifications

    • Experience the portal as a real user would

We recommend not deleting the mock patient. It’s a useful tool to see exactly what your patients will see and test the setup.

Summary

By customizing your patient portal and using the preview tools available, you can ensure that your digital presence is welcoming, well-organized, and reflects your practice’s identity. From branding to embedded booking and handouts, the portal can be tailored to meet your unique needs.
