Converting Cash Patients to Insurance Patients

Converting Cash Patients to Insurance Patients

When you want to update a cash patient to insurance, navigate to the insurance page of their chart and add in a profile. Insurance companies must first be added to the settings. If you haven't already set up your insurance settings, please click on the Insurance article and follow those steps first.

Go to the dropdown menu. Select the insurance that you want to add for this patient and select it as as "primary" and set as "default biller".

Add in the patient's ID number and group number and other necessary fields. This information can be found on the back of the patient's insurance card. If the patient has an account in the patient portal, they will be prompted to fill this out if you have chosen to ask your patients "the insurance questions" in the initial setup wizard.

Acubliss allows you to track the copayment and coinsurance charges within Visits. Visits are where charges go.

Next, navigate to the Visits page and select the visit you would like to see or edit. Once in edit mode of the selected visit you can modify the copayment and coinsurance as needed. It is important that the appropriate copay or coinsurance values are in each visit and the appropriate insurance company is selected for the visit.

You're done! Congratulations. You have successfully switched a cash patient to an insurance patient.
